Every RICOSTA shoe is the outcome of the best of technology, functionality and security. As far as product technologies are concerned, we are pioneers and have already marketed many pioneering innovations. For these we work closely with collaborative and research partners. Our innovations include:

The polyurethane sole:
The less weight children have on their feet, the more easily they can move them. For this reason right from the very start RICOSTA went all out to design shoes with especially light soles. The result is soles of which half consists of air. In a specially developed process PU (polyurethane) is foamed direct onto the upper and inseparably attached to it. It is also especially environment-friendly, because we do not use bonding agents and solvents in the sole. The "airy" PU sole is light, robust, flexible, shock-absorbent and very abrasionproof and has outstanding insulating properties.
The RICOSTA drysole:
Because children's feet sweat a lot, by evening their shoes are often damp inside, even in dry weather. A practical, fast solution to this is removable insoles. Most RICOSTA shoes are fitted with a drysole. This absorbs moisture produced by day and releases it again overnight. This fast drying sole can be washed at 30 degrees.
The two-component sole:
Some RICOSTA models have a TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) additional outer sole under the foamed-on PU sole. This gives the shoes the same grip as high-quality sports and hiking shoes. Also the slip-resistant TPU sole is not bonded but foamed on and so is free from bonding agents and solvents.
That way the soles remain firmly attached to the upper and very flexible.
