In matters of the environment RICOSTA rates as a pioneer and model in the industry. As far back as 1999 we set up an environmental management system in compliance with DIN EN ISO 14001 and have so far been Europe's only children's shoe manufacturer to have been certified for this. We are careful with materials and resources in our production. We ensure that our shoes last and can be recycled without problems. We use renewable energies. For example, solar cells on the roof of our production shop in Donaueschingen provide the power we need. And suppliers and contract partners are actively involved in environmental protection at RICOSTA.
What RICOSTA does for the environment:
- RICOSTA uses only high-quality leather from ecology- and quality-conscious European tanneries in its production.
- RICOSTA makes its shoes from breathable, skin-friendly upper leather without the use of harmful preservatives (PCP).
- All materials are processed without azo colouring agents and, where possible, without chemical additives.
- All soles do not contain any bonding agents which are harmful to health.
- All leather is tanned without chrome VI.
- RICOSTA shoes contain Sympatex air-conditioning membrane, which can be recycled without problems.
